In case anyone missed the abject fuckery that resulted from a little thing I wrote yesterday, one of our Front Pagers wound up on time out for, well, openly admitting he was trolling a diary and alternately daring and begging people to HR him. It is my sincere hope that his time in the corner is minimal. For a multitude of reasons. Which I will happily get into right fucking now.
I don’t dig censorship. At all. Armando wasn’t yelling “fire” in a crowded theater. He waltzed into a diary with the sole intent of being a dick. And he was. I was being a dick when I wrote the fuckin’ thing. No question. I was being a dick because I’m sick and tired of being a progressive in a party ruled by corporate hacks and political windsocks. I have made that perfectly clear over and over. That won’t change. The corporate hacks and political windsocks don’t like it when you call them out. Armando is part of the establishment that gets incredibly upset when someone, anyone, rightly or wrongly, eloquently or coarsely, drags the DNC/Third Way to the woodshed. That’s his choice, and he shouldn’t be punished for exercising his first amendment rights.
I completely understand the temptation to throw donuts when someone is literally begging you to do so. It’s a weird, passive-aggressive, soft bullying thing that a lot of people get away with. I also understand why at least ten people flagged my diary- it pissed you off and you hated it. I fully expect bricks and roses every time I hit “publish”. More often than not, I expect to be completely ignored. It’s always a surprise to me when I get called “self-righteous”, or “omnipotent”. “Asshole”, that one I’m used to.
Yeah, it’s primary season. Yeah, emotions are high. Yeah, I write pieces that piss people off no matter whom they support. I invite the bricks as much as I invite the roses. Armando is right- there’s a lot of HR abuse going on here. Particularly since it’s basically anonymous. I would ask every single Kossack to make for damn sure that the donut you’re throwing is abso-fucking-lutely earned. I’ve been here nearly ten years, and I can count on two fingers the number of times I hit the “hide rec” or “flag” button. If for no other reason than I firmly believe an individual’s rancid comments should be public record. My own included. Free Armando.
Cheers, RR
