The pro-Russian prime minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, was shot and seriously wounded today.
A suspected assailant has been arrested but there is no word yet on a possible motive.
There are a number of reports that the would-be assassin was affiliated with a pro-Russian paramilitary group. If that’s true, it doesn’t make a lot of sense (at least not at the moment) why a pro-Russian prime minister would be targeted.
Ukrainian ATACMS missiles struck the Belbek Air Base in Crimea.
Losses:
- The airfield's fuel depot;
- Two PU of S-400 SAMs;
- 92N6E radar;
- MiG-31 damaged;
- 3 Su-27s damaged.
Information about damage to 3 Su-27s, so far unconfirmed (possibly confused with MiGs), appears in the network.
7 servicemen from units of the 27th Mixed Aviation Division (v/h 46434, Sevastopol) and the 31st Air Defense Division (v/h 03121, Sevastopol) were eliminated. Another 12 were wounded of varying degrees of severity.
Ukraine also struck a Russian fuel depot in Rostov.
They should have been wearing their life jackets.
Another 1,510 Russians off the battlefield.
One Ukrainian drone reportedly took out an entire Russian platoon.
If the roles had been reversed, Russians likely would have just shot everybody.
Meanwhile, In Georgia …
Blinken says the US does not prohibit Ukraine from using US weapons to strike inside Russia. He also announced a new $2 billion aid package for Ukraine and played guitar at a Kyiv bar.
Let’s just say he should keep his day job.
